Mission Statement

The mission of the Sitka Police Department is to maintain order, and to preserve and protect the life, peace and property of the citizens of the City & Borough of Sitka. We are dedicated to the philosophy and values of community policing within a culturally diverse community, building upon the foundation of partnerships. Service will be our commitment, through honor and integrity. The Sitka Police Department is committed to safe-guarding the individual rights and freedoms and affording the dignity and respect to every individual within our community. Honesty, integrity, leadership, honor and compassion define who we are.

The Organization

The Sitka Police Department employs nineteen sworn officers and sixteen civilian personnel displayed in an organizational chart. The department subscribes to the Community Oriented Policing model to bring together the police and citizens to better fight crime in our community.
