Proclamation
HONORING
Sergeant Edward Green
WHEREAS, Sergeant Edward E. Green has dedicated his life to community service, including over seventeen years of faithful and excellent service with the Sitka Police Department, serving his community in a number of roles; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Ed Green has been the recipient of a number of awards including the 2005 Elks Citizen of the Year, the Sitka Police Department 2005 Civic Achievement Award, and in both 1996 and 1998 was awarded the Sitka Police Department's Officer of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Ed Green has been a long-time advocate for our city's youth, and is a practitioner of community proactive law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Green has become a part of the Sitka School District family as students, parents, faculty and staff depend on him for his presence in our buildings and his expertise as a School Resource Officer; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Green, as quoted from a Blatchley Middle School eighth grader, "helps us feel safe at school"; and
WHEREAS, the
Assembly of the City and Borough of Sitka greatly appreciates these enormous
contributions and benefits to the community;
NOW,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Assembly of
the City and Borough of Sitka, that Friday, March 17, 2006, is hereby recognized
as a day to honor not only St. Patrick, but the services of Sergeant Edward
E. Green for his long and dedicated service to the City of Sitka and its people.
